My latest finished project is a giant plush Weighted Companion Cube for a friend who is cosplaying the Ratman from Portal. I followed this tutorial, except I scaled everything up so that the thing is one cubic foot.
The finished product:
Frankly, this project was really tedious! I had to cut out 6 squares, 6 circles, and 6 hearts, and then twenty-four each of the corner pieces, side pieces, and pink strips. Then I had to assemble each panel of the cube, and sew the cube pieces together. Then stuff. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but sewing all those individual pieces together took a long time.
The entire thing is some very soft fleece, except for the pink parts, which are felt. It’s super cuddly.
Honestly, if you’re thinking about making a companion cube for cosplay, I don’t recommend making one out of fabric. Make it out of cardboard instead–it will probably look better, too. But if you want a big geeky pillow, go for it!
